Each year (April – March) the Oxford site of BGB choose a specific local charity to support alongside their other fundraising events and community voluntary work.
Last year we supported The Dogs Trust and Helen & Douglas House Hospice.
We finished the year with a Grand Prize raffle with 42 fabulous prizes for our staff to win. The Event was a fantastic success which engaged our people and raised an incredible £1,050.
The total amount raised was over £8,850 – the highest amount ever achieved, which equates to a donation of £30 for every person in our Oxford office. This is an achievement we are very proud of and demonstrates commitment and support for our Company Values.
This year we have chosen to support Rosy.
ROSY (Respite nursing for Oxfordshire's Sick Youngsters) provides an invaluable service to many children born with life limiting or chronic illnesses and to their families. At the moment the charity funds 5 respite nurses and they would like to increase that number to 6 by 2009. They need to raise at least £150,000 every year to maintain the current level of support (an average of 4 hours nursing per week to families in need) and are aiming to double the time available to allow those families more time away from their ‘nursing’ role. www.rosy.org.uk
